Privacy Policy

Introduction

CloudKata ("we," "our," or "us") operates the CloudKata platform, a hands-on cloud skills practice application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and protect your information when you use our website and application (collectively, the "Service").

By using CloudKata, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Account information: When you register, we collect your email address, username and password (or, if you sign in with GitHub, your GitHub profile information including your email, username and avatar).
  • Waitlist signups: If you join our launch waitlist, we collect the email address you provide so we can notify you when CloudKata launches.
  • Usage data: We collect information about the challenges you attempt, your submissions, your progress, XP and streak data.
  • Technical data: We automatically collect certain information when you use the Service, such as IP address, browser type and device information, for security and analytics purposes.

We do not collect payment information at this time, as CloudKata is currently free to use.

How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and maintain your account
  • Provide and improve the Service, including tracking your progress and challenge history
  • Communicate with you about your account or updates to the Service
  • Maintain the security and integrity of the platform
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve challenge content and platform performance

Third-Party Services

CloudKata relies on the following third-party services to operate:

  • Supabase: We use Supabase for authentication and database hosting. Your account credentials and profile data are stored and processed by Supabase in accordance with their privacy policy.
  • GitHub: If you choose to sign in with GitHub, we receive basic profile information (username, email, avatar) from GitHub's OAuth service. We do not receive your GitHub password.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Cookies

CloudKata uses a single essential cookie (accessToken) to keep you signed in. This cookie is strictly necessary for the Service to function and is not used for advertising or tracking purposes. Because this cookie is essential to the operation of the Service, it does not require separate consent under most privacy regulations.

On our marketing site, a cookie consent banner lets you choose whether to allow analytics and marketing cookies. These are only set if you accept them, and you can change your choice at any time.

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
